Located on Edinburgh’s eastern shore is the old port of Leith only a 10 minute bus journey from the city centre. Over the previous ten years Leith has become one Edinburgh’s most vibrant areas whilst still managing to retain it’s character and indeed still operate as a working port. Like many waterfront developments Leith has become a very desirable place to live and consequently with many young people moving in the facilities have increased tremendously. There are dozens of cafes, pubs and restaurants all located within a few minutes walk from our apartment. Ocean Terminal, a ten minute walk, is Edinburgh’s most recent shopping centre and adjacent to it is the Royal Yacht Brittania. The stylish centre which is home to many fashionable shops and eating places also has a multi-screen cinema. Leith is renowned for it’s fish restaurants but also has numerous Italian, French, Scottish, Indian, Chinese, Turkish - more than enough choice to satisfy any palate. In fact there are now two Michelin starred restaurants one of which you can see from our apartment. If you want to indulge there are also several places to have breakfast. You could walk to the Edinburgh city centre in about 25 minute or just hop on a bus which stops opposite the apartment. Leith is completely self sufficient and ideal for a night out after a busy day sight-seeing in Edinburgh.
Used as a holiday/weekend home by the owners for the last 4 years the apartment is immaculate and built to a high specification. It is situated on the banks of the water of Leith in the best possible location for both transport and nightlife. Built four years ago it is on the end of a block which won architectural awards, directly adjacent to and overlooking the water. It has a video entry system, internal elevator, private parking, a large covered balcony and large sliding floor to ceiling windows in both the living area and master bedroom leading directly onto the balcony. In summer you can slide the doors open and let the balcony become part of the living area.
It is furnished to a very high standard with a spacious living/eating area, a fully equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, two bedrooms and of course central heating. The master bedroom has a double bed, an en-suite shower room and toilet. The second bedroom has a double bed and built in wardrobe. The main bathroom with sink and toilet is off the hall adjacent to the bedroom.
Bus number 22 to and from Princes St stops opposite the apartment and run every 10 minutes. This bus also stops outside Waverley Station close to where the airport bus arrives. A taxi from the city centre costs around £8. T he Edinburgh tram line is due to open in 2011 and will stop a within a 2 minute walk from the flat.
